Mission:

Lead the architecture and evolution of JobNimbus’s payments platform, building secure, scalable systems powered by Stripe that enable seamless financial experiences for our customers. Drive technical strategy and engineering excellence across payment processing, billing, and financial workflows while mentoring teams and ensuring our platform remains resilient, compliant, and ready to scale with our customers’ growth.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the architecture and development of our payments platform, leveraging Stripe to power secure, reliable payment processing, billing, and financial workflows.
  • Design and build backend systems using C#, Node.js, and event-driven architectures that support high-volume financial transactions and enterprise-grade applications.
  • Serve as the technical authority for payment processing, Stripe integrations, subscription billing, invoicing, and financial data flows across the platform.
  • Architect resilient, observable systems that ensure transaction integrity, idempotency, and reliability across distributed services.
  • Partner closely with product, finance, and engineering teams to design payment experiences that are scalable, compliant, and customer-friendly.
  • Break down complex platform and payment architecture challenges into clear, actionable work for engineering teams.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to increase development velocity, automate repetitive work, and reduce time-to-production.
  • Mentor engineers across teams on system design, payment architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Lead major platform initiatives, including evolving payment infrastructure, scaling transaction processing, and improving financial reporting systems.
  • Ensure best practices around security, compliance, and data protection within payment and financial systems.
  • Embed testing (unit, integration, and E2E) naturally into development for long-term maintainability.
  • Participate in and elevate code reviews that value clarity, simplicity, and engineering excellence.

What Makes You the Hero for This Job:

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant experience designing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep expertise integrating and operating Stripe for payment processing, subscriptions, billing, invoicing, webhooks, and payment lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of payments architecture, including idempotency, reconciliation, fraud prevention, transaction reliability, and financial data flows.
  • Proven experience leading architecture decisions and driving technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in C# and/or Node.js for developing scalable server-side applications.
  • Experience designing and operating event-driven systems that handle high-volume transactional workloads.
  • Strong experience with distributed system design, reliability, and observability.
  • Experience building and operating secure financial systems with attention to compliance, data protection, and auditability.
  • Database management and design (SQL, NoSQL). Knowledge of Couchbase a plus.
  • Experience deploying and scaling highly available distributed systems in cloud environments.
  • AWS Services (ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, OpenSearch, CloudFront, S3)
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and integrations, particularly with third-party financial systems.
  • Experience guiding teams through complex system design and mentoring engineers at multiple levels.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Observability (Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting)
  • Testing (Unit, Integration, and E2E tests)
  • API and general Security Principles for encryption, input validation, rate limiting
  • Exposure to Domain Driven Design (DDD)
